Excuses are a safe haven

First attempt at a pull-up attached to the new Crossfit chair.

I went and picked up my new Crossfit chair from the guy who produced the first ever Crossfit chair. Marty Frierson, owner of  XCalibur Sportschairs, is an absolute artist with metal.  He is also a phenomenal guy who is passionate about, and an expert in, his field. I watched this chair come to life through pictures as he started the build. I also thought it was interesting that he showed me the pile of aluminum that would become my chair when I first went to get measured. I picked the chair up today, and I was blown away. I felt like I was looking at the big reveal on one of the restoration car shows.

As I got this long awaited chair, I came to a realization…I had made a lot of excuses during my workouts.  I had continually told myself that I would try many things that I had put off because I didn’t have the necessary built in features in my Off Road chair.  Even though I had people telling me that I inspired them to get out of their comfort zones, I realized that I had not completely gotten out of my own.

What happens when you really get out of your comfort zone? Sometimes things that aren’t safe…

…but once we get out of our comfort zone, and into the danger zone…sometimes we see positive growth that would not have occurred otherwise.

How can we apply this into our life?

Sometimes God is calling us out of our safe space. There may be stumbles….there may be falls…but it may also end in lift off.

We are called to trust in Him and His Plan…this is called faith.

Joshua 1:9 ESV

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
